Educause

The Bottom Line
What we can offer through our language lab’s extensive collection of instructional materials can never fully match what students can find on the Internet. However, when we create an environment that enables students to go to original sources, supplementing and complementing our language-learning-specific resources, then the world itself becomes a language lab without walls. When students get a chance to hold the world in their hands, language learning becomes more exciting, more interesting, and more relevant.

PREPARING FOR THE NEXT ECONOMY

No society has ever had to deal with tools as massively powerful as those that are emerging today. The convergence of the Nano, Bio, Info and Cogno (NBIC) all the Big 'O's technologies promise to realign the nation's economic future. These power tools are the key arbiters of the next economy, but they will seem tame compared to what is to come. How might we guide the emerging future? High might we invent the preferred future by investing in readiness on a national scale? How might we raise awareness of the radical nature of these technologies so that we can be more productive ans focused on enhancing human performance?
